NSCDC Commandant Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguarding Lives and Property in Zamfara.

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State, Sani Mustapha, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens in the state.

Speaking at the 2025 International Civil Defence Day celebration in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, Mustapha emphasized the significance of the event, which is observed annually on March 1 to promote civil order, security awareness, and proactive crisis management.

“It is a day set aside to honor and recognize civil protection efforts and the safeguarding of lives and livelihoods,” he stated.

Sani Mustapha reiterated that, the Corps remains one of the key security agencies working diligently to provide adequate security both in Zamfara State and across Nigeria.,

He stressed that, the NSCDC has implemented various mechanisms to support humanitarian services, manage critical incidents, and enhance crisis response strategies.

According to him, the Corps is adopting multidimensional approaches to ensure the security of the populace,” he added.

This year’s celebration is themed “Corp Defence: Guarantee of Security for the Populace.”

Commandant Mustapha further stated that the Commandant General of the Corps, in his continuous efforts to strengthen the NSCDC, has developed crisis mitigation strategies and an efficient emergency response framework. These include preparedness, response, and recovery efforts across the three phases of disaster incidents: pre-disaster, active disaster, and post-disaster.

Representatives from the Nigerian Army, Police, Immigration Service, and other security agencies who attended the event congratulated the NSCDC on the celebration and called for greater synergy among security forces to enhance service delivery.

Earlier, Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by Captain Bala Muhammad Mairiga (Rtd), reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the NSCDC and other security agencies in the ongoing fight against insecurity in Zamfara State.
