The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has launched a humanitarian initiative to distribute food baskets containing rice and condiments to 30,000 vulnerable households across the state’s 17 local government areas.
This effort aims to alleviate economic hardship during Ramadan, particularly targeting farmers affected by poor harvests, individuals with disabilities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Speaking at the occasion held at the Event Centre, Government House, Damaturu, Governor Buni emphasized the importance of supporting the less privileged during Ramadan.
In addition to the annual Ramadan feeding centres established across the state, Buni explained that the state government is allocating the sum of N297 million to provide food for the less-privileged individuals at the centres.
He added that the state government has increased the number of feeding centres from 85 to 102 this year, with additional locations situated primarily in health institutions.
