ACReSAL Gombe, flags off GDP 4 tree planting campaign in Shongo Housing extension

In continuation with maintaining its cardinal responsibilities the Agro-Climatic Resistance in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL, Gombe state office, has flagged off a tree planting campaign at Gombe Development Plan 4, GDP 4, Shongo housing extension.

Addressing members of the press briefly after planting seedlings, the Gombe state project coordinator, Ambassador Sani Adamu Jauro, said the Project is to increase the implementation of sustainable landscape
management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria and to strengthen Nigeria’s long-term enabling environment for integrated climate-resilient landscape management.

Ambassador Sani Adamu Jauro described the tree planting initiative as one of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s green revolution agenda for protecting and beautifying the environment which they found necessary to key into for the benefit of present and future generations.

The project coordinator added that the tree planting initiative of the present administration has recorded a lot of successes starting from the Gombe Goes Green initiative, to NEWMAP and now ACReSAL where varieties of millions of trees were planted and maintained.

He therefore urged the general public to support the ambition of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of protecting the environment by planting trees and nursing them as its reward will benefit a person even in the hereafter.

Ambassador Sani Adamu Jauro thanked all the NGOs that participated in the tree-planting campaign and called for more support from individuals and organizations in protecting the environment.

A resident of the area Malam Atiku Haruna thanked ACReSAL for the gesture, and saying it is a long-awaited project in the area despite their effort of planting individually, he equally thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for putting counterpart funding in the project to combat desert encroachment promising to take care of the planted seedlings.
