Adamawa State Gov’t to ensure gender equality through gender sensitive policies

Adamawa state government has expressed zero tolerance to all forms of gender based violence through the enforcement of gender sensitive policies in the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed this at the at an event organized by EU-UN spotlight initiative held at the banquet hall, government house Yola.

Represented by his deputy professor Kaletapwa Farauta, governor Fintiri said the handing over marks the next phase of partnership and commitment by government and development partners to galvernize resources and commitment to end harmful practices that are gender based, thereby and to restore the dignity to sexual reproductive health, as well as rights of every woman and girl in Adamawa state.

He stressed that government is already ahead in the fight against gender based violence through signing the violence against persons prohibition Act into law, child protection law among other policies.

The governor emphasized that government has also made education accessible for every child in all public schools and has been paying NECO and WAEC fees, with deliberate attention on the girl child, adding that human and infrastructural development are the priorities of his administration expressing commitment to deliver on his promises.

According to him, the fresh air administration will continue to provide enabling environment to consolidate on the gains already recorded in the fight against gender based violence, even as he advocates the need to send the girl child to school for a brighter and productive life.

Governor Fintiri noted that Adamawa is a gender friendly state, assuring of government commitment to ensure sustainability of the project to give women and girls a sense of belonging.

On behalf of the development partners of the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA focal person, Kuawu Koessan, described as unquantifiable the support and contributions of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to the success of the project in the state.

He pledged their continues support to achieve more in addressing gender based related issues and the execution of other developmental projects in Adamawa.
