BASUG Matriculates over four thousand fresh intake for the 2023/24 Academic Session.

Bauchi State University Gadau, BASUG says the Forty eight rooms capacity a hostel being constructed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund at its Yuli Campus would ease the challenges of accomodation and improve students productivity.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Fatima Tahir stated this at the 2023/2024 academic session matriculation ceremony for candidates admitted into degree programmes.

Professor Fatima Tahir represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Professor Bala Abdulhamid Ma’aji said the absence of hostel accomodation at Yuli campus has been a serious challenge for the institution, noting that the facility being provided would ease the daunting task of accommodating students at the campus.

“TETFund is currently constructing 48 number rooms “hostel accommodation” at the Yuli Campus to ease the daunting task of accommodating students at the said campus, we are indeed grateful “, Professor Fatima notes.

She acknowledged the construction of a 2.8 kilometres access road at the main campus by the state government and a comprehensive ICT Centre by the Shell Petroleum Development Company with a pledge to provide three hundred productive tree seedlings within the vicinity of the building.

The Vice Chancellor said a total of 4371 candidates out of the 11441 that applied for placement into the university were screened and admitted across nine faculties and 38 programmes of study.

According to her, the breakdown of admission based on faculties are Faculty of Agric 274, Faculty of Arts 115, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences 549, Faculty of Education 802, Faculty of Law 55, Faculty of Management Science 443, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science 64, Faculty of Science 1181 and Faculty of Social Science 828.

Professor Fatima noted that the Oath taken by the matriculants is an acceptance to abide by the laws, statutes, ordinances and regulations of the university, hence the need for them to stay away from cultism, examination misconduct sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism and truancy to guarantee their stay.

“Our duty as parents/teachers is not only to give you access to knowledge but also to help in moulding your character so that you become responsible citizens of our country, Nigeria. Let it be made abundantly clear to the deviants among you, that the university will not hesitate to take the necessary disciplinary action against any non-conformist”, She warns.

The Matriculation Oath was administered by the University Oath Administrator and Former Dean Faculty of Law Dr Shamsuddeen Magaji.

The eleventh Matriculation ceremony including orientation were held simultaneously across the two major campuses of the university in Gadau and Yuli respectively.
