Rep of Bauchi Gov’, Auwal Jatau (Deputy Governor) Inaugurating a project at ATBU

Bauchi State Government to continue partnering the Federal Government and Donor Agencies in the area of comprehensive training and capacity building programmes to uplift the standard of Educators.

The State Governor Bala Muhammed stated this at the Inauguration of 19 infrastructure Projects at Gubi and Yelwa Campuses of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU Bauchi.

Bala Muhammed represented by his Deputy Muhammad Auwal Jatau said this is in recognition of the pivotal role of teachers and administrators in creating an environment conducive to learning for the younger ones.

“I would like to use this occasion to inform you about the significant strides my Administration has taken to enhance the welfare of teachers and students and also improve infrastructure in our educational institutions. Indeed, our commitment to the educational sector has been unwavering as reflected in the various policies and programmes we have implemented in the sector”, the Governor reminds.

He said his administration’s drive in developing the education sector is evident with the construction of over five thousand classrooms in the basic education sub sector as well as provision of facilities at the State University to include 3 kilometre access road at Gadau, extension of power supply to faculty of basic Medical sciences, procurement of laboratory equipment and reagents among others.

The Governor who commended the University management for prudently deploying its resources to infrastructural development, noted that ATBU is one of the best not only among its contemporaries but even the first generation universities in the country.

Muhammed notes that “The construction of classrooms and office blocks as well other facilities would not only provide conducive working environment but would also strike a balance between academic and Administrative activities in this citadel of learning. I am pleased to note that the university has lived up to this challenge by prudently deploying its resources to infrastructural development”.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor ATBU Bauchi Professor Muhammad Ahmad Abdul’azeez represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Professor Sani Usman Kunya said the 19 projects were executed within the last five of his stewardship at the institution.

Professor Muhammad Abdul’azeez expressed appreciation to the State Governor for constructing an access road to Gubi campus, as well as the Federal Ministry of Education, NNPC limited, CBN and TETFund for their invaluable contribution towards the realisation of the projects.

“I would like to extend the appreciation of this University to the Bauchi state Government for being a worthy host to the University over time.
I wish here to commend the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Ali Pate for his resolve to address the myriad of heath sector problems in the country. As a University that produces medical practitioners, we have a good stake in the policies that the Ministry of Health will promulgate, especicially as it will affect our College of Medical Sciences and the ATBU Teaching Hospital”, Abdul’azeez restates.

He listed some of the projects to include Student Hostels, Staff offices, Lecture Theatres, General Store, Library, Clinic among others.

Among the dignitaries that performed the projects’ inauguration include the Governors of Bauchi and Katsina, Emirs of Katagum and Misau, and the Senator representing Bauchi South Shehu Buba Umar.
