Bauchi Govt Releases Over ₦96 million To PHCs

Bauchi State government has released ₦96,900,000 to Primary Healthcare Centres 323 political wards for the healthcare services rendered to beneficiaries of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) under the vulnerable component of the State Health Contributory Scheme.
The Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed stated this while speaking at a One-day Media meeting in Bauchi to assess the state’s Budget Performance.
The meeting drew participants from electronic, print and online media platforms across the state was organized by Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) with support from USAID funded Integrated Health Program (IHP).
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said each of the health facilities stand to get three hundred thousand naira as payment for the healthcare services it offered last quarter to the vulnerable beneficiaries of the scheme.
He called on the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) to restrengthen its monitoring and evaluation as well as supportive supervision mechanisms to ensure judicious utilisation of the funds.
He informed that additional 323 healthcare facilities are underway courtesy of the World Bank assisted project, Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Health Services (IMPACT), for adequate service delivery to people of the state.
The Executive Chairman explained that already staff of the IMPACT Project Implementation Unit (PIU) were in the field mapping out deserving health facilities through use of scientific method in the selection process so as to avoid selfishness.
According to him, in wards where there were no more public health facility apart from the one main PHC which was already in the system, the team is allowed to select a suitable Private facilities for effective service delivery to people of the respective wards.
