A Non Governmental Organization, Centre for Community Actions for Peace and Development (CCAPAD) has conducted a capacity building for local security agents in Bauchi aimed at improving security across communities in the State.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria on the sidelines of the training, the Executive Director, CCAPAD, Ahmad Salihu said the essence was to expose the security agents to new techniques to enable them secure their communities.

Ahmad Salihu said strengthening the capacity of local security formations was crucial, assuring that the NGO would continue to accord utmost priority in conducting such training, towards ensuring crime free communities.

He said one of the fundamental problems Nigeria face as a nation was inefficient training and retraining of security personnel for them to be better in discharging their responsibility.

According to him, conducting such trainings would make the country more focused and serious in terms of provision of security for its citizens, peace building and being conflict sensitive.

On his part, the CCAPAD’s Chairman, Board of Trustee, Mr Charles Dicson said the NGO has no ethic, religious or political affiliation, emphasizing that its priority was society’s peace building and conflict mitigation.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, the Coordinator CCAPAD in Bauchi local government area who doubles as Chairman Peace and Security Committee, Sani Yakubu said the training was impactful, adding it would go a long way improving their operations.
