Easter: Zulum sues for peace, prayers for development, prosperity as 200,000 people reach with palliative

The Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum has urge christians in the state and beyond to commit the Easter period with prayers for the development and prosperity of Borno and Nigeria as a whole.

The Governor made the call in a message to felicitate with the Christian community on the occassion of this year’s Easter celebration.

In a statement by his aide on New Media, Abdurrahman Bundi, the Governor notes that In the last five years, his administration has invested hugely in education, healthcare, agriculture, and provision of potable water, as part of the recovery process from fifteen years of insurgency. 

According to the Governor, over 200,000 people have been reached with palliative distribution in an effort to ameliorate the economic hardships faced by the vulnerable people especially the displaced persons. 

“I have personally supervised the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable communities who have faced unimaginable terror from the insurgents; this effort is to give our people hope and prevent the possibility of anyone been lured to join the insurgency” Zulum said.

Governor Zulum says in an effort to attain food security and sufficiency, his administration, his administration has now shifted attention to the revival of agricultural sector, explaining that the south Chad irrigation scheme would soon be reactivated.

“in the last couple of days, I have met the President, and he gave his assurance of improving security in the Lake Chad, to give access for the re-activation of the South Chad irrigation scheme, which when fully revived, can provide food for the entire country.”

The Governor reiterate his commitment to welfare of the citizens and provide the needed leadership, stressing that a multifaceted approach in the areas of security, economy, youth unemployment and other critical areas will be deployed to achieve the desired result.
