A disagreement has occurred in Potiskum between plots of land owners and the Federal College of Education (Tech) Potiskum.

The disagreement erupted when the management of the academic institution, led by the college Provost Dr.Muhammad Madu Yunusa begun the fencing of the land allocated, to build it’s parmanent site

The land owners in their quest to get back the plots they bought about a decade ago said they have done their best to report the case to Potiskum LGA Chairman but all efforts were in vain.

Some of the land owners Mallam Sani Dauda and Ismail Musa who have several plot, said they were later invited by the college to witness the measurement of the land allocated.

Mallam Sani in his explanations said about 500 land owners were invited for biometric by TETFUND and very few of them were paid 13,000 to 15,000.

When contacted, the Federal College of Education Technical Potiskum said it owes no compensation to pay those claiming they own plots of lands in its parmanent site located along Federal Government College Road in Potiskum.

The Provost of the College Dr Muhammad Modu Yunusa made this known through his personal Assistant, Ismail Gimba while answering questions on allegations of non payment of compensation to land owners.

He explained that the former Late Governor of Yobe State Bukar Abba Ibrahim, allocated the site to FCE Potiskum since 2002, and the farm owners have since been settled.

Gimba said the College was only supposed to pay for the economic tree planted if there were any, but paid another compensation to the land owners.

He noted that the complainers later sued the institution to court and having presented all facts and witness before the court, the institution won the case.

Documents presented by the land owners were dated April 2014, while the institution presented a plan dated back to 2002.
