Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has signed the 2024 budget into Law which amounts to the sum of Two Hundred and Eight Billion Naira.

While signing the budget at the Council Chamber of the Government House Gombe, the Governor explained that the 2024 budget which is tagged, Budget of Continuity and Consolidation would leverage the gains of the previous budget by allocating more resources that would enhance healthcare services and improve education, human capital development as well as job creation among others priorities.

The Governor commended the lawmakers for the expeditious passage of the appropriation bill by appreciating the longstanding collaboration between the executive and legislative arms, particularly in maintaining the January to December budget cycle.

According to him, the breakdown of the budget indicates an allocation of fifty-eight per cent for capital expenditure and forty-two per cent for recurrent expenditure for the first time in the budget of the state.

Earlier, the speaker Gombe State House of Assembly Muhammed Abubakar Luggerewo, applauded the effort of Governor Inuwa Yahaya on the 2023, budget performance and assured the continued legislative support by ensuring the 2024 budget surpasses that of 2023 in terms of performance.

The Speaker further explained that the House of Assembly has increased the budget size by three hundred million naira from the initial proposal submitted by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

While expressing gratitude to all members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, the Speaker, assured that the budget would reflect the Governor’s commitment to the well-being of the Gombe people.
