INEC Expresses Readiness for Re-run, Bye-election in Yobe

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Yobe State has expressed its readiness for the conduct of the re-run and bye-elections in the state.

The State Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi made this known while briefing Journalists on the level of the commission’s preparedness in Damaturu, the State Capital.

The Commissioner revealed that five political parties including ADC, APC, APGA, NNPP, and PDP are to participate in the elections scheduled to be held on 3rd of the February, 2024.

Ibrahim Abdullahi explained that Electoral activities have been planned to take place in eight, 8, Local Government Areas, Seventy-five, 75, Registration Areas and Nine hundred and ninety-three (993) polling units that make up Yobe East Senatorial Constituency and one (1) in Fika local government.

He states that a total of Four thousand, two hundred and thirty-two (4232) ad-hoc staff have been earmarked for deployment, saying that One thousand, three hundred and thirty-nine (1,339) BVAs machines will be used for accreditation.

The REC calls upon all election personnel, security, media, observers, and the electorates to conduct themselves lawfully.

Abdullahi added that the commission plans to move out the sensitive election materials from the CBN to the respective Local Government Areas on Thursday, 1 February 2024.

He further urged Voters to come out en-masses to exercise their franchise on Saturday 3rd February.
