Insecurity: Gov Bala Mohammed Calls for New Security Approach

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State says addressing the worsening insecurity situation in northern parts of the country required community engagement and collaborative efforts among relevant stakeholders.

He stated this at the ongoing Two-Day Roundtable on insecurity in Northern Nigeria organized by a Coalition of Northern Groups in Abuja.

The meeting with the theme Multi-Dimensional Approach to tackling insecurity in northern Nigeria has in attendance officials from Federal, States and Local Authorities as well as civil society organizations.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized that to succeed in tackling the ploriferation of arms, blocking the supply of financial and logistic to criminals, government must work with conventional security agencies, local vigilante and community members.

According to him, some of the criminal acts are being perpetrated with support of community leaders and unscrupulous individuals advising that government at all levels should introduce an effective initiative aimed at discouraging their involvement.

He commended the group for providing a better platform for the stakeholders interaction towards providing a lasting solution to the problem.
