KACRAN Seeks Livestock Feed Palliatives from Northern Governors.

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has appealed to Governors of Northern States to procure and distribute livestock feeds to Pastoralists as palliative intervention.
The National President of KACRAN Khalil Muhammad Bello, made the plea in a statement made available to Newsmen in Damaturu.
According to him, the call to action comes in the wake of the Federal Government’s laudable disbursement of 50 billion naira towards the Pulaaku initiative, a campaign championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fortify the livestock sector and enhance the conditions for Nigerian Pastoralists.
He added that the rationale for this appeal is rooted in several vital points, which include, President Tinubu’s administration commitment to support the livestock sector, intending to improve security in the Northern regions and alleviate the hardships of all citizens.
Bello noted that as NLC focuses on workers’ rights, KACRAN underscores the necessity to speak up for the silent livestock population, which is integral to the national interest.
Bello explained that the repercussions of fuel subsidy removal have been pronounced for livestock, arguably surpassing the impact on human populations, health and upkeep of livestock are inextricably linked to the welfare of humans, emphasizing the importance of holistic palliative measures.
KACRAN commends Yobe State Government and SEMA for their 2022 initiative and encourage Northern Governors to secure and distribute feeds like: Wheat Bran/Offal Feedlot/Compounded feed Cotton Seed Cake, Soya Beans Cake, Palm Kernel Cake, Salt lick- Molasses”.
KACRAN also proposed the reallocation of some portion of funds designated for workers’ palliatives and general food relief to the procurement of animal feed, thereby ensuring equitable support for Pastoralists and their livestock.
KACRAN expressed the confident that if its plea is met with understanding and prompt action from the Northern State Governments, there would be an improvement in the activities of pastoralists and their livestock, thereby improving security and alleviate the hardships of all citizens.
