MILITARY INVADES ADAMAWA POLICE COMMAND.—kills inspector.

An inspector of the Nigerian Police, identified as Inspector Daniel Jacob was shot dead on Tuesday night when Military officers from the the 23rd Armoured Brigade launched an attack on the Police Command avenging the shooting of One of their officers by patrolling policemen attached to Doubeli Division within the state Capital.

The rampaging military officers also alegedly disarmed and abducted a policeman on duty at the residence of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Adamawa state.

A military armoured carrier was said to have used by the Military officers shooting sporadically within the Command.

The Commissioner of Police,Babalola Afolabi along with other police officers who were said to be in the office during the fierce attack narrowly escaped bullet shots that pierced walls and windows of the Command including the CP’s parking lot.

When our Correspondent visited the Command, the Commissioner of police was seen conducting top police officers and Journalists round the affected buildings while shells of bullets were being packed.

Panic and sorrow have engulfed the Command while there is an increased beef-up and re-enforcement of police officers at the entrance of the Police Headquarters.

The Commissioner of Police,Babalola Afolabi through the Spokesman of the Command,SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje who issued a statement condemned in totality, the action of the Military and brutal killing of the Inspector.

He however called for calm within the state.

The Brigade Commander,23rd Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Gambo Mohammed while speaking to Journalists through a telephone interview said his officers were at the Police Command to rescue the wounded Military officer.
