NEDC to scale up intervention in education sector

The Managing Director, North East Development Commission (NEDC), Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, has reiterated the commitment of the commission to invest more in the education and other development sectors to fast track the recovery of the region.
Alkali made this known while commissioning the Future Prowess Human Capacity Building Center named after Late Abba Kyari, in Maiduguri.
Future Prowess School is a private school for orphans and other vulnerable children affected by the insurgency in North East.
The Managing Director commended the founder of the school for complementing the effort of the Federal and Borno state government in empowering children of the less privileged.
He assured that NEDC would continue to partner with the school in that direction.
Founder of the school, Malam Zanna Mustapha, said the school which has a total of 2,085 students mostly girls has now introduce skills acquisition as part of its empowerment programme.
According to him, the school had established a farm as a source of generating revenue to augment the running of the school.
Zanna Mustapha solicited the support of the Commission to enable it enrol more orphans and equally improve the standard of the school.
Highlight of the occasion is the interaction with some students of the school by Alkali who also inspected facilities at the skills acquisition centre.
