Network of CSOs Review Climate Change Policy Developed by Kaduna State Government for Globlal Opportunities.

Civil Society Organizations in Kaduna State have carried out intensive review of the Climate Change policy being developed by the state government aimed at addressing environmental challenges and creating opportunities in a global scale for residents of the state.

The coordinator, Network for Civil Society in Environment Gloria Bulus stated this in Kaduna at a one day technical session to review the draft Climate Change policy for the State.

She explained that the draft policy was validated last year without the input of critical stakeholders such as the Civil Society despite it’s global relevance which requires wider consultations to give it of high quality and general acceptance.

Ms. Gloria Bulus said Climate Change issues cuts across all sectors of human endeavors hence the need for multisectoral synergy to address challenges in Health, Agriculture, Transportation, Industry and many more sectors.

She however admitted that the policy captured all the issues which gives them the opportunity to develop key observations and recommendations to influence the policy document.

Earlier in an address, the team lead for Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn, PERL Mr. Abel Adejo had emphasized the need for the Civil Society Organizations to work together with the legislative arm of the state towards achieving the underlining opportunities created globally in the Climate Change processes.

He noted that the House of Assembly Members can take advantage of the Climate Change to execute projects in their constituencies which direct bearing with the needs of the people.

Mr. Abel expressed satisfaction with the Climate change policy of the state stressing that it will help in addressing the current and projected impacts of climate change.
