PROTEST: NLC Calls On Fed Govt To Bring Back Fuel Subsidy

The Jigawa State Chapter of the Nigerian labour congress NLC has participated in the nationwide protests and called on the federal government to withdraw anti-human policies.

The state labour Chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari said the aim for the peaceful protest is to show the government that the policies they imposed are too harsh to Nigerians.

He urged the federal government to withdraw the policies especially fuel subsidy removal which resulted to high  inflation of commodities and transportation.

The peaceful protest started from the Dutse central Eid prayer ground through major streets of the metropolis down to Government House Dutse where the leadership of the NLC in the State Presented  the Congress stand on fuel subsidy removal to the state government.

Addressing the protesters, the Jigawa state Governor Mallam Umar Namadi who promised to send the labour’s needs to the federal government for action.

Represented by the state Deputy Governor, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, Namadi called on the protesters to be calm and be law-abiding.

He appreciated the cordial working relationship that exists between NLC and the state government.

He urged them not to allow hoodlums infiltrate the peaceful protest while assuring them of government’s commitment to look into their demand with the aim of addressing them.

The peaceful protest was attended by all affiliate unions in the state.
