State of the Nation: PDP Govs Decried Increasing Hardship, Suggests Decentralized Economic Invigorating Initiatives

PDP Governors Forum wants the Federal Government to prioritize policies aimed at cushioning the present economic hardship being faced by the teaming citizens.

The Forum also emphasized for a decentralized security system in a manner that would ensure effective synergy between Federal, States and Local Governments to avoid abuse of power among the tiers of government.

These were parts of the communique issued at the end of the forum’s meeting held at Oyo State Government Lodge Abuja.

Presenting the communique, Chairman of the Forum and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said PDP Governors noted the challenges of food security across the country and therefore welcome the release of food and grains from national reserve by Federal Government.

According to Governor Bala Mohammed the situation has necessitated the need for the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency embark on Initiatives involving all subnational government to ensure massive food production.

The Forum also expressed dismay with the falling value of Naira hence it requested the monetary and fiscal authorities to provide appropriate solution to the challenges.

The meeting has in attendance Governors of Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Enugu, Osun, Plateau, and Deputy Governor of Zamfara State.
