State2State Activity Trains Bauchi BIRS Staff On Tax Audit, Investigation

A three-day training for twenty six staff of the Bauchi State Internal Revenue Service on Tax Audit and Investigation has commenced in Bauchi.

The training workshop is supported by the Bauchi Field Office of the USAID funded State Accountability Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity.

The objective is to equip the participants with the requisite knowledge to prepare a tax audit and investigation manual to enable them discharge their duties efficiently.

It is also to expose them on preparation of the manual for improved taxpayer compliance with tax laws, ensuring that all applicable tax legislations have been complied with.

Another objective is for the participants to ensure that the tax computations submitted to the authority by the taxpayer agree with the underlying records.

This is to forestall taxable persons or businesses generating incomplete or inaccurate returns in support of the self-assessment, and forestall failure to render tax returns.

In an address, the State Team Lead USAID funded State2State Activity, Bauchi Field Office Mrs Rabi Ekele said since the initial take off of the activity in the state, Board of Internal Revenue had maintained a cordial relationship describing it as a good partner.

Mrs Ekele who urged the participants to be attentive throughout the three days for effective understanding of what they would be taught, expressed optimism that the deliberatons would be fruitful.

The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Mu’azu Usman said the technical support being enjoyed by government’s staff, from State2State Activity was immeasurable considering the knowledge gained and capacity built.

Alhaji Mu’azu Usman represented by the Coordinating Director, Administration and Support Services, Engineer Gambo Abdullahi Shehu stated that the training was apt, hoping that the existing partnership would be sustained.
