We’re Collaborating with other govt agencies to fight Hunger in Nigeria – CGC

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Custom Service Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi says the service was collaborating with other federal government agencies in the fight against Hunger in Nigeria .

The Comptroller General disclosed this while briefing journalist in Kano during an official visit to the state.

Adeniyi explained that the Nigeria Custom Service was working assiduously In ensuring adequate management of the nation boarders ,safe guarding industries as well as protecting the agricultural sector .

He said the agency was collaborating efforts with the federal ministry of Agriculture and other related stakeholders to ensure maximum food security in the country.

” We are not working in isolation,we are collaborating with other federal government ministries and parastatals to ensure adequate food security in the country “

Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi noted that the Nigerian custom service was working closely with the boarder communities to ensuring timely intelligence information which will be useful in curtailing smuggling of food and other contraband items.

He noted that in an effort to enhabce effective community relations between the Nigeria Custom and boarder communities efforts have been put in place to construct schools and health facilities geared towards achieving the stated goals.

” Six big projects would be sited at the boarder areas through special intervention provision”

The Comptroller General added that the Nigeria Custom Service had began roundtable meetings with leaders of Grains market ,aimed at fine tuning modalities of addressing hike in food products price.
