Yobe Government Commences Distribution of Food Items to120,000, Households Across 17 Local Government Areas of State .

The Yobe State Government has commenced the distribution of food items to one hundred and twenty thousand, 120,000, households across the seventeen, 17, Local government areas of the state.

While flagging off the distribution in Damaturu, the State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni said his government will continue to take all measures to bring succour to the poor and vulnerable in the state.

Governor Mai Mala Buni revealed that the State Government has procured over 50,000 bags of assorted food items, including rice, Maize, Millet, and Sorghum for distribution in the 17 local government areas in the state.

“The distribution we are about to launch now is indeed massive, targeting 120,000 vulnerable households to cushion the effects of the economic hardships, and to provide food to the vulnerable persons and others who are actually in need”.

Buni further explained that the distribution process is designed through a cluster of representatives of People Living With Disabilities, Mosques, Churches, Orphanages, IDPs, and other vulnerable groups selected across the 178 political wards.

Governor Buni therefore commended the state emergency management agency, SEMA, for living up to the expectations of the government, by reaching out to those who truly deserve the support”.

“The local government committees are also hereby directed to ensure transparency and accountability, with priority given to People Living with Disabilities, the weak and elderly persons, Nursing and expectant mothers, retirees, and low-level civil servants”.

Earlier, in an address of welcome, the Executive Secretary, of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Dr Mohammed Goje assured that the Agency will constantly monitor the distribution to ensure that it reaches all who deserves benefits as directed by the state government.
