YOBE GOVERNMENT TARGETS 400,000 BENEFICIARIES FOR PALLIATIVE

Yobe State Government has commenced distribution of palliative to four hundred thousand vulnerable persons across the state.

While flagging off the distribution exercise for Yobe East Senatorial zone, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the beneficiaries would be selected from about fifteen thousand communities targeting eighty thousand households.

The Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by his deputy Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana said,the distribution of the palliative to the four hundred thousand vulnerable and the less privilege persons was to cushion the effect of subsidy removal in the country.

He revealed that,the targeted beneficiaries included persons living with disability ,women headed households, the elderly and students among others.

According to him,to ensure timely and Fair distribution of palliative in the Local Government Areas ,sub committees were constituted with membership drawn from traditional rulers,reputable community leaders, religious leaders and civil society organisations.

The Governor charged the people of the state to corporate with the committee and the sub committees for a hitch free exercise and continue praying for peace and bumper harvest in the state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Yobe state Emergency Management Agency Dr Mohammed Goje said,the 3000 beneficiaries for today’s event were selected from 38 Communities in damaturu local government area and each would go home with a bag of rice, vegetable oil , packs of salt and Maggi.

Some of the beneficiaries thank Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gesture and promised to make good use of the items.
