Zulum Felicitate with Christians, Calls for Religious Harmony.

The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has urged Christians to maintain religious harmony and resist elements capable of causing disaffection in the state.

The Governor made the plea in a christmas message contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau. 

He equally felicitate with Christians in Borno State and beyond on the occasion of Christmas celebrations.

“I will like to felicitate with our Christian brothers and sisters in Borno State at the Christmas celebration. I will like us to also remember our history and how we have been tested by the challenges that confronted our state, especially since 2009″ Zulum said.

The Governor explained that the humanitarian interventions embarked upon by his administration was devoid of ethnic or religious affiliation, noting that Boko Haram target any person who did not share their ideology irrespective of faith.

“As Governor, I have, on numerous occasions, paid humanitarian and reconstruction visits to diverse communities of all faiths in the south, north and central because the attacks by insurgents mostly did not take religion into account. Everyone who did not share the Boko Haram ideology was a target, regardless of whether the victim was Muslim or Christian.”

Zulum added that on several occasions he paid visits to communities in Chibok, Askira-Uba, Hawul, Biu, Gwoza, Monguno, Baga, Kala-Balge to mention but a few, to rebuild and resettle communities with the consideration of fairness to the most affected portions of our twenty seven local government areas.

The Governor called on citizens to resist any attempt that will  divide the state along religious lines, especially now that Borno is on the part of economic recovery, growth and development.

He pledge to remain fair to all and respond to the humanitarian needs of affect communities in our continued responses across State.
