The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Tarauni Local Government Campaign Council in Kano State, with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf urging party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor, represented by Muhammad Yusuf Jamo, gave the charge during the inauguration, urging party stakeholders to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Yusuf, former Kano State Governor and Kano Central Senatorial candidate, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and other APC candidates.

He called on members to sustain reconciliation efforts, promote unity and uphold democratic principles, expressing confidence that the party’s candidates would deliver democratic dividends if elected.

Governor Yusuf said the economic policies of President Tinubu were beginning to stabilise the nation’s macroeconomic environment, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms would eventually improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

He appealed to citizens to remain patient with the administration, saying the difficult decisions being implemented were aimed at rebuilding the economy and securing a stronger future for the country.

In his remarks, Shekarau urged campaign council members to intensify voter education at the grassroots to minimise invalid ballots and ensure that eligible voters cast their votes correctly.

Similarly, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Tarauni Federal Constituency, Nasiru Bala Ja’oji, called for unity, discipline and stronger grassroots engagement, while highlighting his empowerment and development interventions in the constituency.

Ja’oji said he had distributed 200 motorcycles and provided N125 million in cash grants to 2,500 beneficiaries to support small businesses and promote economic self-reliance.

He also listed interventions in education, healthcare, youth development, infrastructure and community security, including payment of examination fees, educational assistance to tertiary institution applicants, medical support and provision of solar-powered streetlights.

The lawmaker said the initiatives were aimed at improving livelihoods and creating opportunities for constituents, pledging to sustain the programmes if given another opportunity to serve.

Also speaking, the member representing Tarauni Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Dahiru, described the inauguration as a demonstration of the party’s organisational activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged party leaders, women, youths, former political officeholders and other stakeholders to put aside their differences following the primaries and work collectively towards the forthcoming elections.

Dahiru stressed the need for collective responsibility, effective coordination and sustained engagement with voters at the grassroots.

Other stakeholders at the event also pledged their support for the party’s candidates at state and national levels.

The campaign council, chaired by Sadiq Shugaba, is expected to coordinate mobilisation activities and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration is part of the APC’s efforts to organise its structures and mobilise members across the state ahead of the polls.
