Gov. Yusuf Appoints Three Second Class Emirs in Kano State

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has appointed three second-class Emirs for the Rano, Gaya, and Karaye Emirates.

This development follows the signing of a bill into law establishing three second-class emirates in the state.

In a statement signed by the Director General media and publicity to the Governor Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa and was made available to Journalist in Kano said the newly appointed Emirs are:

  1. Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, Emir of Karaye (formerly District Head of Rogo)
  2. Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, Emir of Rano (formerly District Head of Bunkure)
  3. Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, Emir of Gaya (formerly Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate)

Governor Yusuf congratulated the new Emirs, charging them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates. The appointments take effect immediately.

The new emirates will operate under the first-class Kano Emirate, with Rano covering Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government areas, Gaya covering Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government areas, and Karaye covering Karaye and Rogo Local Government areas.

This development marks a significant milestone in Kano State’s history, aimed at promoting cultural heritage and grassroots development.
