The Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC in collaboration with ICPC, EFCC is working with parents, teachers and education managers to reverse the negative trend of internet fraud, kidnapping and banditry among teenagers and youth in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Hamid Bobboyi stated this while speaking to newsmen shortly after addressing participants at a 5-day training for Master Trainers from 17 Northern states and the FCT holding at Chartwell Hotel, Bauchi.

Dr Hameed Bobboyi said the ongoing Moral Regeneration and Reorientation training in collaboration with ICPC, EFCC and other relevant agencies was to empower teachers and education managers to effectively inculcate positive knowledge on children towards building a society with strong moral values.

While attributing the rampant cases of internet fraud, kidnapping, banditry among other vices to lost of good moral values at the young age, the UBEC Executive Secretary called on parents and teachers to work towards correcting the ugly trend among young learners.

He said UBEC has developed manuals and handbooks on Moral Regeneration and Reorientation to be used in schools and appreciated the interest showed by the participants.

Earlier, the UBEC Director Teacher Development, Olumayowa Aleshin charged the trainees to be committed in order to have students with good moral values, skills and knowledge for the betterment of the society.

Olumayowa Aleshin noted that, the programme will also engage community and traditional leaders as well as the media and other relevant bodies to achieve the set objectives.
