BSPHCB Solicites Journalists Support To Address Zero Dose Children

Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board has solicited the support of journalists to highlight issues around Zero Dose children and vulnerability of such children to diseases.

The Incidence Manager, Polios Emergency Operation Center, EOC Bauchi, Dr Sufyan Ahmed made the plea at a Bi-annual Media Engagement organized by the Board with a view to changing the narrative.

Dr Sufyan Ahmed emphasized the need for the journalists to sensitize parents on the dangers associated with non collection of vaccines.

He said that unvaccinated children are prone to child killer diseases such as Cholera, Meningitis, Hepatitis B, among others.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said thirteen out of twenty local government areas of the state were the Zero Dose LGAs with Dambam and Jama’are having the highest number of defaulting children.

An Information Technology, IT Consultant with the EOC, Ibrahim Juwara urged the participants to avoid sensationalism and ensure objectivity in their reportage especially on issues around human health.
