AHIP marks IWD with young women in science and innovation competition for students

The Adolescent Health and Information Projects (AHIP) in collaboration with Kano the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and other partners commemorated the International Women’s Day with young women in science innovation and creative arts competition for students.

According to the organizers,the event was aimed at advancing the status of women and girls in Innovative Science and Creative Arts, took place at the coronation hall government house in Kano

The executive director of AHIP, Hajiya Mairo Bello pointed out that, the objectives of the vent are to support women and girls in leadership roles, decision-making processes, business ventures, and STEM fields while promoting their creative and artistic talents.

She said the two-day event featured six schools renowned for their excellence in science and technical education.

” Governors College, Government Science and Technical College Dala, Jaoji, PHAUG, Gwarmai, and First Lady College”

Mairo Bello pointed out that, during the celebration, students from the six schools showcased their innovative and creative talents by presenting various projects and presentations.

“The Judges from the Association of Professional Women Engineers evaluated the entries based on neatness, workability, and innovation, to ensure fairness and thorough assessment of the participants’ efforts”

“GSTC DALA presented Hand made products, GSTC BEBEJI Incubator and Drying machine, GSTC JAOJI Water dispenser Governors college Chemical/Biological reactions,
First lady college Fire detecting device, Mairo Tijjani Dark activated switch”

She said GSTC Bebeji emerged first with 41 marks, First Lady College second and the third position goes to GSTC Ja’oji.

The Kano State governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf presented prizes to the victorious teams in a show of support and recognition.

The gesture underscored the government’s commitment to prioritizing education within the state and fulfilling promises to enhance the educational system.

Radio Nigeria reports that the event organized by AHIP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, PLANE and K-SAFE provided a platform for networking, collaboration, and inspiration for the participants, particularly young women and girls.
