CG NSCDC charges newly recruited officers to restore peace in conflict areas

The Controller General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi has charged the newly recruited officers to ensure peace is restored in conflict affected areas. 

Dr. Audi gave the charge during the passing- out-parade of 2022 regular intake of the Corps in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

Represented by the Assistant Controller General in charge of zone I, Shehu Magaji, the Controller General said the graduation ceremony coincided with the International Civil Defence day which is aimed at fostering international cooperation in disaster reduction and emergency management. 

According to him, the personnel have undergone rigorous training and will boost the number of troops prosecuting the war on criminality in the county.

Dr Audi called on officers and men of the Corps to ensure maximum discipline and cooperation while discharging their duties. 

Borno State Commandant NSCDC, Farouq Boyi said Civil Defence has as its core mandate,  protection of critical national assests and infrastructure, crisis management and registration of private security companies.

He explained that the theme for 2024 World Civil Day is ‘honour heroes and promote safety skills, which underscores the critical aspect of building a resilient and secure communities. 

Mr. Boyi added that NSCDC also carry out adhoc functions such as agro rangers and safe school program.

Director Security and Cabinet, Government House Maiduguri, Mutawalli Gana Mala called on Corps to establish agro ranger units in the twenty seven local government areas of the state to boost food production.

Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that the ceremony witnessed the passing out of fifty nine personnel.
