Foundation Organizes 1st National Qur’anic Competition in Bauchi

A community based organisation in Bauchi State known as ‘Wunti Al-khair Foundation’ has organised a national Qur’anic recitation competition holding in the state with participants from six northern states.

Wunti Al-khair Foundation is a charity organisation that has been providing assistance to the orphans and vulnerable people, community services as well as different forms of interventions in critical areas of education and health among others.

Our correspondent reports that this was the first time it organised Qur’anic recitation competition where contestants from Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano and Niger states are participating.

The competition which is in collaboration with Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation kicked started three days ago at Event Centre, Bauchi.

The Qur’anic competition is part of the series of activities marking the official inauguration of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Integrated Islamic Centre situated in the state capital.

Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed represented by his deputy Auwal Jatau declared the ceremony opened.

He commended the foundation for organising the event saying such competition could encourage children to memorise the holy Qur’an as well as make them studious.

On his part, the chairman of the competition committee Sayyadi Aliyu Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi said the aim of organising the competition was to identify children who could recite and memorise the holy Qur’an with correct pronunciation otherwise known as ‘Tajweed’.

In a remark, the Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyamini Othman who appreciated the organisers for the initiative, hoped that the effort would be sustained to ensure that the younger ones develop the habit of memorising the Qur’an.

At the end of the five-day event, prizes of different kinds are billed to be presented to those who excelled among the contestants.
