FG adopts befitting Strategies to enhance Police Cadet Students’ performance – Minister

The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, says federal government would adopt all the needed strategies to enhance the performance of Cadet Students of the Nigeria Police Academy,Wudil,Kano State.

Senator Ibrahim Gaidam disclosed this when he paid an inspection visit to the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil Kano.

He said the strategies that would be adopted includes enhancing training and education, mentorship and guidance, emphasis on ethics professionalism, physical and wellness programmes, community engagement and practical experience.

“I come to you today with a sense of purpose and determination to address a crucial matter that lies at the heart of our institution’s mission – the improvement of the Cadet Students performance to shape the future leaders of law enforcement in Nigeria.

“As we thrive to produce well-disciplined and professionally sound police cadets,it is imperative that we collectively embark on a journey of transformation and innovation in our approach,” he said.

The Minister noted that by implementing these strategies and working together as a cohesive team, the future leaders of future law enforcement leaders would be shaped in Nigeria and ensure that police cadets are well prepared to uphold the values of justice, integrity and service to humanity.

“As members of the Nigeria Police Academy,you are not only educators but also mentors to the future leaders of our police force.Your guidance, wisdom and experience will have a lasting impact on the cadets under your care,” he said.

Gaidam therefore urged them to embrace this role with a sense of responsibility and dedication, pointing out that the future of the police force depends on the values and skills they impart to the next generation.

Senator Ibrahim Gaidam also expressed satisfaction with the the effort of the management led by the Commandant AIG Abubakar for turning round the institution.

” So far so good I am very pleased with the level of academic and training of young police officers in our institution.

” We will continue to support the management to enable the institution produce well train police officers to complement the efforts of the federal government in the promotion of peace, progress and political stability in our father land.

Earlier, ,the Commandant of the Academy,AIG Sadiq Abubakar,said the institution is doing very well in realising its objectives.

Abubakar said with the commitment and continued support of the Federal Government through the Ministry of Police Affairs,the Academy had been able to “vigorously pursue policies that are purposely focused on making it one of the best Police Training Institutions in Africa.

“And repositioning it to take the lead in innovative practices, research, training, modern policing and quality education,” he said.

The Commandant, however, listed the challenges being faced by the institution to include shortage of academic and directing staff,acute shortage of staff quarters for both directing and academic staff, inadequate science and language laboratories to cater for the growing population of cadets, and non completion of major projects.
