The North East Development Commission ( NEDC) has donated  different varieties of equipment to the Nigeria Television Authority ( NTA) Maiduguri Zonal Network Centre to enhance its operations.

Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Mohammed Alkali, who presented the equipment at headquarters of the Commission said although the NEDC is an intervention agency, but also to build the capacity of institutions in the North-East. 

He said NEDC would continue to ensure that the Network Centre performs well not only in disseminating information of what is happening in the North-East and the country, but to the outside world. 

He described NTA as a critical partner in the counterinsurgency operations in the northeast having been keeping citizens abreast of the various government activities and the counter-insurgency operations in the North-East region. 

He said,”Equipment donated include sony video camera; ideal field reprinting bundle, reporter hand held microphone for interview and broadcast: desk link for studio system, deep circle batteries for UPS attached to the transmission; all- in – one ( integrated solar street light) with 18v/ 100w , and high efficiency monocrystaline solar panels among others.”

Zonal Director NTA Maiduguri Network Centre, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar, on behalf of the Director General, expressed profound gratitude the NEDC for the gesture .

He assured the host community and the NEDC that the Network Centre would continue to do more through reportage and programs on the dangers of insurgency and soft method of countering violent extremism.
