The Northeast Development Commission has strongly warned contractors handling various projects across the subregion against compromizing contract specifications.

The Chairman Governing Board of the Commission Major General Paul Tarfa retired sounded the warning when he led the newly reconstituted Members of the NEDC Management Board on a familiarization visit and projects inspection in Bauchi State.

Some of the projects inspected include the ongoing construction of Medical Emergency Unit, Ophthalmology complex at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, the proposed Bauchi State Office of the Commission as well as the ongoing construction of NEDC Mega School where the commission expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done.

However, the Commission expresses displeasure over what it observed as substandard work being done by the contractor handling the proposed NEDC 300 Housing Units at Dungal community in Bauchi Local Government Area.

Reacting to the development, the Board Chairman Major General Paul Tarfa retired and Management Director of the Commission Alhaji Goni Alkali summoned the contractor to report to the Commission’s Headquarters in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

The delegation has also paid a homage to Emir of Bauchi Alh Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu at his palace.
