NMA Offers Free Medical Services to Communities in Bauchi

About one thousand people in Duguri and Gaji villages of Alkaleri local government area, have benefited from free medical services organized by the Bauchi state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Speaking at Duguri, the State NMA Chairman, Dr. Adamu Sambo said the aim of the intervention was to assist indigent households, women and children as well as the vulnerable in the communities to have access to healthcare services.

Dr. Sambo explained that the association had offerered various health interventions to include general consultation, laboratory services, tests for Malaria, hypertension, hepatitis, health education among others.

He said medicines for different illnesses were procured and administered to patients based on doctors’ diagnosis as well as refer some patients depending on medical complications.

The  District Head of Duguri, Alhaji Ibrahim YM Baba represented by Alhaji Idris Yunusa expressed appreciation to the NMA and hoped that other organizations would emulate.

Also speaking the Chairman Alkaleri Local Council, Alhaji Yusuf Garba also reprsented by Sani Walin Duguri said the medical outreach was a welcome development in view of the economic hardship being experienced by people of the the area. 

He pledged continued support and collaboration with groups and individuals to provide such interventions.
