Police parades 31 suspected criminals in Yobe, and a lecturer for alleged abuse of his students.

Yobe State Police Command has nabbed 31 suspects for committing criminal offences from within and outside Damaturu, the state capital.

A statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, said the police in collaboration with other security agencies apprehended the suspected person for various offensives across the state.

While noting that most of the culprits arrested have served imprisonment terms in the past for similar offences, Mr Dungus added that the command has also arrested a health lecturer, Adamu Gambo Hudu, for allegedly raping a female student in his office.

The lecturer is said to be an employee of Yobe State General Hospital Potiskum and Al-Ma’arif School of Health Potiskum.

Confirming the allegation, DSP Dungus said Mr. Hudu was arrested on Wednesday, and investigations into the issue has begun and would be charged to court on Monday March 4th, 2024.

The Registrar, Al-Ma’arif College Of Health Potiskum, Usman Alhaji Saleh also confirmed the arrest to newsmen, but declined further comments.

An anonymous source close to the victim in Potiskum confirmed that the alleged rape took place in Mr. Hudu’s office, at Yobe State Specialist Hospital Potiskum. after the alleged picked the victim from her home.

The source added that Mr. Hudu usually lure his victims to his office using excuses of them failing his courses and offering to help them pass, which results in sexual relationships.
