POWA Distributes Food Items to Widows, As Part Of IWD Celebration in Yobe.

In commemoration of the International women’s days 2024, Police Officers Wife Association POWA, Yobe State Chapter, has distributed to women, food items to support their families.

POWA Chairperson and Wife to Yobe State Commissioner Of Police Haj Aisha Ahmad Garba, said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of the hardship been experienced as a result of inflation and other economic crisis experienced in the country.

She also explained that the gesture would ease pain, for women who have lost their husbands in the line of duty.

In an Interview after the distribution, Haj Aisha noted that Women should be Celebrated Daily because they play a vital role in Childrens’ Upbringing, and also deems it fit to inculcate the fear of God into their children.

“To care as a mother is to cook good food, create a clean home, provide clean clothing, read to your children, include them in family life, encourage, teach and play.” she added.

While calling on women to assist their husbands, Haj Aisha urged them to exercise patience and treat their families with outmost respect.

Appreciating the gesture, one of the beneficiaries and the wife to a deceased police officer Maryam Dauda, who got about three (4) Items, said this is not her first time of receiving such.

Other beneficiaries explained to Radio Nigeria that “POWA has been their guardian since after the death of their husbands.”

They called on the well to do individuals in the Society to assist women especially widows and children with job opportunities, educational assistance, food, and shelter.

Items Distributed to the women includes, bags of rice, noodles, cooking oil and Sugar.
