SALCASUN,AMMKAS organizes stakeholders engagement for score card development

Kano state government says, the aim of the Kano state contributory healthcare scheme ( KSCHS), is to ensure that all residents have access to effective, quality and affordable healthcare.
The executive secretary Kano state contributory healthcare management agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar made the indication, during a stakeholders engagement, for baseline assessment of Kano state alignment, with the NHIA act 2022.
Represented by director programs KSCHMA, Dr. Abdullahi Sa’ad, she explained that, objectives of the scheme includes maintaining high standard of healthcare delivery services and ensuring equitable distribution of healthcare costs across different income groups.
She identified some of the challenges bedeviling the scheme such as ,low informal sector enrollment, fixed contribution rate, different capitation rate, attitude of health workers, and low public awareness of the scheme, among others.

Presenting the scorecard template for implementation, of the national health insurance authority (NHIA) act 2022, the chairman Accountability mechanism for MNCH in Kano state (AMMKAS), Salisu Yusuf, pointed out that the score card focused attention on six thematic areas.
Which are governance and coordination, financing, service delivery, data reporting, accountability and transparency as well as demand generation.
He noted that, Kano ministry of health, primary healthcare development agency and Kano state contributory healthcare management agency (KSCHMA), were selected where others would be brought on board after the completion of the score card.

In her presentation titled : Introduction of joint learning agenda: representative of save a life cancer foundation, Hauwa Kakudi stressed that, JLA advocacy priorities targets advancing health insurance uptake in Nigeria at national and sub-national levels.
Others are promoting CSO understanding of the NHIA,implementation guidelines and opportunities for partnership as well as facilitating engagements among various stakeholders.

The engagement attracted journalists from broadcast, print and new media,government officials, NGOs, CSOs and the public.
