UNICEF Ambassador Advocates Exclusive Breastfeeding, Complete Immunization For Newborn Babies

A popular Nollywood Actress, Ms Kate Henshaw urges mothers and husbands to ensure their children complete all immunization sessions to enable them grow healthy throughout childhood.

Ms Kate Henshaw, made the call at the Conference Hall of the Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) during a news briefing on immunization campaign.

She said the call was imperative in view of the fact that Bauchi is one of the Zero Dose states, noting that immunization guards children against killer diseases, hence the need for collaboration among couples.

The Nollywood Actress, who doubled as UNICEF Ambassador on Nutrition and Immunization re-echoed the importance of exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months of newborn babies.

She said doing so would guarantee the children’s good health and saves money for the parents.

The Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Dr Tushar Rane, said the reaction being experienced by children after receiving Penta-1 Vaccine, which indicates the vaccine was efficacious and needs patience from both parents to complete the three rounds.

Earlier, UNICEF Chief of Communication, Advocacy and Partnership, Mr Rajat Madhok who informed that a number of influential partnered with UNICEF to advocate for the development of children in education, healthcare among others.

Mr Madhok appreciated the Nollywood Actress for sparing her time to come down all the way from Lagos to Bauchi state to talk to government and other stakeholders on issues affecting children’s health and development.

He also acknowledged the contributions being rendered by journalists supporting the UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, noting that they were doing a great job.

Radio Nigeria learnt that UNICEF Bauchi Field Office led by its Chief, Dr Tushar Rane together with Ms Henshaw have earlier paid courtesy visits to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman.
