Workshop Sightsavers train journalist on sustainable services advocacy

Creating awareness on regular eyes checking among the general public has been described a great tool of societal development.

The Country Director of a non governmental organization named Sightsavers Nigeria Dr Sunday Isyaku disclosed this during a two day training for journalist across some of the North Western States, held Kano.

He said the objectives of the training was to acquaint the working journalist on the importance of advocacy for governments on sustainable services.

He said Eye Health was very paramount , hence all the needed support and advocacy needed to be put together to achieved the set objectives.

“we have been in Nigeria for over seventy years , but what we have realized is we have been missing a very key partners in the work we do , the media.

That’s why we bring the media together to help us in the advocacy” Dr Sunday Isyaku noted that the media will play a vital role in creating awareness for regular eyes checking , and showing love and attention to the people living with disabilities geared towards having a peaceful society.

“we live in a society were people living with disability are completely stigmatized and we think lack of awareness was the reason behind that , so we need the media to help us in awareness creation for the benefit of all. The meeting was attended by working journalist from the northwest geopolitical zone.
