Borno State Government has donated one hundred and ten brand new operational vehicles, five hundred motorcycles, and two hundred eighty houses to the Nigeria Police and Army to enhance operations in the state.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, received the operational vehicles at a ceremony that took place at Government House, where Governor Babagana Umara Zulum inaugurated the vehicles and formally handed them over to the IGP.
According to the distribution formula, out of the one hundred and ten operational vehicles, sixty were given to the Nigeria Police, while fifty vehicles and five hundred motorcycles were given to the Nigeria Army.


Similarly, the police also received two hundred and twenty houses at the newly constructed Mai Mala Buni Housing Estate, twenty units of houses at Kashim Shettima Estate, and another forty at Wulari, all in the state capital.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum emphasized the importance of supporting security operatives with necessary tools, stressing that this would enhance their efficiency and dedication to their constitutional duties of maintaining law and order.
Governor Zulum opined that this modest gesture continues his administration’s commitment to security agencies, which are the cornerstone for achieving enduring peace, progress, and development in the state.
According to the Governor, the support would enhance their mobility, improve their response to distress calls, and their operational capabilities in the ongoing fight against crime and other forms of criminalities.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership in supporting the security agencies.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, expressed gratitude to Governor Babagana Zulum for what he described as massive support to the Nigeria Police, stressing that the support would no doubt enhance the operational capacity of the police.
Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, highlighted the continued support of the Borno State Government to the security agencies, which he said impacted positively on the security situation in Borno.
The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Wadi Shaibu, and Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawan, expressed gratitude to the Borno State Government for its intervention in providing operational vehicles to the security outfits in the state
