Bauchi State House Of Assembly Calls For The Rehabilitation Of Bauchi Gombe Highway

Bauchi State House of Assembly has appealed with the executive arm to liased with the Federal Ministry of Works and Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA to rehabilitate Bauchi Gombe Federal highway to ease the flight of motorists and rates of accidents along the road.
The house also called on Bauchi and Gombe State Governments to draw the attention of the Federal Government on the level of damages caused by heavy rainfall every year so as to minimize carnage on the road.
The call was sequel to a motion under matters of urgent public importance moved by member representing Kirfi Constituency, Habibu Umar during plenary presided over by the speaker Abubakar Sulaiman.
Habibu Umar said the move became necessary considering the strategic importance of the road to the economy of the states in the northeast sub region hence the need for urgent action to salvage the lives of people around the area.
The lawmaker, who noted that about eighty percent of vehicle users plying the road face serious challenges apart from the frequent loss of lives, stressed that Bauchi and Gombe states have the capacity to rehabilitate the road and seek reimbursement from the Federal Government afterwards.
Contributing to the motion, member representing Darazau Constituency Saidu Sabo Sulaiman and his Bogoro counterpart Musa Wakili Nakwada said the impact of this year’s rainy season has increasingly threatened communities in their constituency as many roads, bridges and culverts were either cut off or washed away by flood.
After long deliberation, the house assigned its committee on works to visit the areas affected by flood especially roads and bridges that collapsed or got washed away in all the thirty one constituencies of the state.
