The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has extended an invitation to individuals from other political parties to join its ranks.
APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas Disclosed this while briefing journalist at the Party’s Secretariat in Kano.
This development comes amid speculations of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the expelled faction of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), potentially decamping to the APC.
The APC Kano State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, stated that the party has directed its ward chapters to open registers for new members, in line with the party’s constitution.
Abbas emphasized that all prospective decampees, regardless of their political or social stature, are welcome to join the party.
However, Abbas clarified that new entrants will not receive special treatment.
He stated that all members, old and new, will have equal opportunities to exercise their constitutional rights to vote or be voted for in future party or elective positions.
Abbas also warned that joining the APC will not provide a safe haven for individuals seeking to escape accountability for past corrupt practices. He emphasized that the party will not tolerate cult-like associations or groupings in the name of political activities.
The APC Kano State chapter has demanded that prospective decampees who have made derogatory statements against the party’s leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his deputy, Senator Kashim Shettima, offer a public apology as a sign of remorse.
