The Yobe State Hisbah Commission, in a joint operation with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), arrested a golf vehicle loaded with 209 cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza, made this known while briefing journalists in Damaturu on the commission’s achievements within a week.
According to the Chairman, the vehicle, with registration number plate ABJ-144-SC, was arrested at Maina Lodge in Damaturu following an intelligence report by the commission’s officers.
He disclosed that the commission also uncovered an additional 34 cartons of alcohol in VIP Room number 07 at the same lodge.
Dr. Hamza said the primary objectives of the Commission are to ban the sales and consumption of illicit drugs and alcohol, as well as mingling and blending between different sexes in the state.
The Chairman further announced the official sealing of Maina Lodge until the investigation is completed.
