Bauchi State Government has procured 20 new 4D ultrasound scan machines for distribution to general hospitals across all 20 local government areas of the state.

The equipment was procured through the World Bank-assisted Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services, IMPACT Project.

Arrangements have also been concluded to solarise the 20 general hospitals to ensure stable and sustainable power supply for improved healthcare service delivery.

Programme Manager of the IMPACT Project, Dr Adamu Muhammad, disclosed this in an interview with Radio Nigeria during an orientation for newly recruited health workers.

Dr Muhammad added that the solarisation project would also cover the State Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Primary Health Care Board, and Hospital Management Board.

He explained that the intervention is aimed at improving the quantity and quality of healthcare delivery for people across Bauchi State.

The Programme Manager further revealed that free antenatal and delivery services would soon be launched in all 212 IMPACT-supported primary healthcare facilities in the state.

Dr Muhammad said pregnant women attending those facilities would benefit from health talks, basic drugs for antenatal care, and necessary investigations throughout the course of pregnancy.
