The Gombe State Police Command has announced the immediate closure of all unauthorised motor parks operating within the Gombe metropolis aimed at restoring order.
In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, warns that anyone found operating or patronising illegal taxi services would face appropriate legal sanctions.
The statement explains that the measure is aimed at enhancing security, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding the lives and property of passengers.
It emphasises that the Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo Motor Park remain the only government-recognised park for passenger loading and unloading in the metropolis.
The Command called on all stakeholders in the transport sector, including drivers and their unions, to fully cooperate with the directive in the interest of public safety.
The statement adds that security agencies and enforcement teams have been directed to monitor compliance and take decisive action against any defaulters without delay.
