Bauchi Govt Approves Salary Increase to Staff of Tertiary Institutions.

Bauchi State government and Joint Action Committee of academic and non academic staff unions JAC, of the state have signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU on 90 percent salary increase.

Speaking at the signing ceremony MoU held at the office of the State Head of Civil Service, the Head of service Muhammad Sani reiterated government’s readiness to prioritize welfare of the civil servants for improve productivity.

Muhammad Sani represented by the the Permanente Secretary Ministry of Education Ali Babayo Madara said the present administration in the state would continue to provide enabling environment for the symbiotic engagement between government and the Organized Labour in the state

He emphasized that Governor Bala Muhammad’s approval for the salary increase signifies his commitment to reposition the Tertiary Education Sector

The Head of Civil Service charged the state workforce to redouble efforts in the formulation and implementation of government policies and programmes to deliver the dividence of democracy to electorates in the state.

In a remark, the Special Adviser on labour matters Comrade Usman Danturaki, said the state government would continue to utilize the concept of collective bargaining in resolving workers demands in the state.

Comrade Usman Danturaki Commended Governor Bala for honouring the approval to the agreement reach between the state government and JAC.

On his part the state’s Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Dauda Shuaibu assured that, the labour leaders in the state would never compromise on the rights and privileges of the workers, urging them to be law abiding at all times.

Comrade Dauda Shuaibu appreciated the seamless conduct of the negotiations and appealed for the implementation of 100 percent salary increment when the economy improves.

Speaking the Chairman Joints Action Committee of academic and non academic staff unions JAC, Bauchi State Comrade Abubakar Ahmad said the signing of the MOU for the implementation of new tertiary salary structure was the result of months of negotiations between government and the Committee.

Comrade Abubakar Ahmad said the term of the agreement of the MOU include 90 percent salary increase, implementation of promotion, yearly increament and arrears of the 90 percent increase from the commencement date of the negotiations.

He appealed for immediate implementation of all the agreed terms in the MOU, without any delay.

The JAC Chairman called on members to compliment government’s effort through dedication to duties.
