Mass Defection: Over 150 Christian Youths and Women Leave PDP for APC in Bauchi.

Over one hundred and fifty executives of various amalgamation of Christian youth and women of People’s Democracy Party PDP in Bauchi State have dumped the party to the All Progressive Congress APC over what they described as deceit and injustice.

The former PDP executives of the coalition comprise of youth CAN and Christian Women fellowship wings as well as individuals from Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local governments have also announced the re-endosment of President Bola Ahmad Tinibu for the second term.

Speaking at a ceremony to receive the defectors in Bauchi, the State Coordinator of Coalition of APC Christians for Progress Support Groups Mr Godfrey Manasser also endorsed the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Professor Ali Pate for the state’s governorship race.

Mr Godfrey Manasser noted that the endorsement of Tinubu for the second time became imperative considering his economic policies that rises the foreign reserve from 3 to 25 billion dollars.

While appreciating the present administration efforts to rehabilitate 880 Primary Health Care Centres, the Coordinator of the coalition said that bills of some medical treatments in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi have been subsidized.

He said the coalition established for over decades would canvas for the course of large tent for Christians, non violence election and good governance among nineteen states of the North.

In a keynote address, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate enjoined the defectors to follow due process of the defection to become full pledge members of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Professor Ali Pate who is also the Special Guest of Honour at the event was represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Rabiu Shehu Gamawa commended organizers of the event and promised to carry the defectors along for them to enjoy dividends of democracy.

On his part the state CAN youth leader, Linus Matthias advocated provision of empowerment programmes, young christian engagement into politics and charged them to become good ambassadors of the Association.

Speaking on behalf of Women Christian Association Mrs Asabe Tula enjoined women to contest for various political positions like their male counterparts in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors Mr Damina Moses Gagarau claimed that they were leaving PDP because of injustice, deceit and lack of trust being shown to them.

Damina Moses Gagarau who is also the Chairman of the group said the decision to dump PDP for APC was reached after series of meetings and consultations with critical stakeholders from within and outside the state.

Highlights of the event were receiving the defectors, cultural dance of Sayawa and Tiv troops as well as cutting of cake by the decampes and those that receive them to symbolize love, unity and togetherness.
