The United States faith based Non Governmental Organization, Islamic Relief USA has distributed meat worth 20,000 Dollars to about one thousand households in 20 communities support zone poor protected areas in the four game reserves of Bauchi state for Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The 20 communities were selected from the four protected game reveserves of Yankari, Lame Bura, Mala Dumba and Summu wild life park.
Speaking at the distribution exercise, the Programme Manager Nigeria Conservation Foundation NCF in Charge of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Garba Boyi who explained that the project which was funded by Islamic Relief USA through NCF said each beneficiary which include, aged persons, widows, Orphans and the Vulnerable people got 3 kilogram of meat.
Muhammad Boyi explained that the foundation is collaborating with International Organizations to assist the poorest communities in the protected zones in the state’s game reserves to have sense of belongings and to celebrate the Sallah with ease.
He pledged for the sustenance of the gesture and called on the beneficiaries and people of the communities to pray for the donors and the NCF .
The NFC Programme Manager expressed optimism that with the beneficiaries’ conducting themselves with decorum, proper coordination and implementation of the distribution process, the Islamic Relief USA would sustain the gesture and bring more projects that will impact positively on lives of the people in all the protected areas.
Muhammad Boyi explained that the project is being implemented to encourage people of the communities to protect the game reserves from vandalism.
Representative of the Bauchi state government who is the Managing Director of State Tourism Development Corporation Dr Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf praised the donour saying Governor Bala Muhammad is determined to partner any organization towards the development of the state.
In their separate remarks, the Ward Heads of Dugiri in Alkaleri, Ilya Adamu, Yuga in Lame Burra Abdullahi Adamu and that of Pali, Ahmad Dauda thanked Islamic Relief USA for the kind gesture and called on other NGOs to emulate.
In an interview some of the beneficiaries Aishatu Yunusa and Yakubu Muhammad who expressed delight over the donation prayed Allah to reward them abundantly.
They applauded NCF and the NGO for the kind gesture and solicited for more interventions from other philanthropists.
