The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has appointed Dr Sa’ad Umar Idris as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner for Gombe State.
In a statement by the Public Affairs Officer of INEC office in Gombe State, Mohorret Bigun says Dr Idris Umar appointment follows a nationwide redeployment of Resident Electoral Commissioners by the Commission.
Dr Idris Umar an indigine of Bauchi State takes over from Alhaji Umar Ibrahim.
At his inaugural speech Dr Idris expressed gratitude to his predecessor for a smooth transition and called on Heads of Department as well as staff to remain committed to professionalism, integrity, excellence, teamwork, and transparency.
He emphasized the importance of collective effort in advancing INEC’s mandate and achieving credible elections across Nigeria.
The new resident commissioner also assured his openness to new ideas that can enhance the Commission’s operations.
